Clowns🤔🤡

 Hello everyone.

In drama we are learning about clowns. Clowns portray the acts of a day of a human's life but they purposely mess up. Clowning in drama is more of like comedy. Clowns will fool around with the audience, trip over, copy someone, act like a 'child', etc. Most clown also make a lot of white makeup and red lipstick marking of their lips and making a big smile. They wear oversized clothes and big shoes.

After researching about clowns we had to make our own clown.

My clowns name is Misery. My clown creeps up behind people and will play a creepy song with a flute.  Misery likes to walk with slow and big steps. She has red and black stripes on her collar and black and white stripes clothes. She wear purple lipstick and marks on her face like a sad face. My clowns' famous trick is juggling on a unicycle. My clowns voice sounds a very deep and goth voice.

Performing Arts

 Hello everyone.

Today we are learning about performing arts.

What actually is performing Arts?

Performing arts is a performance of an audience. The performances might have music, drama and dance. It can be a play, theatre drama, a musical, opera, illusion, mime, hand mime, spoken word, poetry, puppetry, circus arts and etc. There others examples of arts depend on what story you are telling. Mostly performing arts is a story told by action or the music but they don't have to tell a story.

Drama Play

 Hello everyone.

For the past few weeks in Drama our class has been learning how to tell stories/plays. We are mainly focusing on making dialogues, roles and using props for our play. We also have been trying to add costumes for our roles to express more of how our character are played. These are all what we need or what we can use to tell a story of our play. Other decided to create their play from a template the teacher has given us. Most plays were about bullies but our group decided we wanted to make our own play. We haven't decided on the title yet but we have been trying really hard to create a play that would entertain the class. Our plays' genre is romance and comedy. We're trying to make it funny to at least not bore the audience. The main characters on our play, is Rose Ainsley and Zakey Evans which are played by our two classmates, Jordan and Hollie. The two other roles which is the Duke and Agea are played by me and Amanda.

Drama Perfomances

 Hello everyone.

This week on drama we have been organising our performances with masks. We could choose any kind of scenes that we were going to act out. Our group decided to act a scene about a family watching a movie. The problem was that the little sister was having tantrum but later on solved throughout the act. 

We had a little bit of problems behind the scenes for example finding prop or costumes. We also had a little bit of problem with planing out our act and all agreeing to the same thing.

Bird Masks

Hello everyone. 

In drama we have been making bird masks and acting like birds. We are also starting to make our movement plan. Our movement plan is where our group chooses a movement that we all are comfortable with and the movement has to be bird related.

For our movement plan we decided to choose to do our own birds. For the music we haven't figure it out yet. My group include 4 members, Jordan, Hollie, Amanda and me. Jordan picked a penguin while Hollie chose to mimic a Kiwi bird. Amanda chose a bird that has been believed as a myth which is a phoenix. I chose to mimic a Barn owl because I think they are pretty cool and their colours are stunning. 

We made our masks already which are the birds that we chose to mimic. All I need to do for my mask is to  attach an elastic string on it. 

The mask i have been making look a little bit weird. My mask has holographic glitter near the eye holes and inside the mask I decided to add some fabric to make it more comfortable for me. I have been researching how barn owls move and have been succeeding on mimicking a barn owl. The rest of my group has also been doing an amazing job acting like their birds.

Bird Mask #2

Good day everyone.

On my last blog post about drama, I talked about what we have been doing in drama. We have been currently learning about bird masks and planning out what it would look like. 

We had to make a mask plan e.g: colours, shape materials. I haven't made a mask plan yet but I have a list of materials that I may or may not need. I am inspired by this bird mask that kind of looks like a barn owl.

My Bird Mask Research

 Kia ora everyone.

This week in Drama we have been learning about masks, specifically bird masks. We had to choose a bird that will inspire us on making a bird mask. It could also be a bird that was made by fantasies like a phoenix. 

For my mask I chose a Barn Owl. I chose it because it has really pretty features and it also looks like one of the mask I was inspired on.

Here is more info about Barn Owls:

Barn Owl

Features:
1. White heart shaped face
2. Looks like from a fantasy
3. Their back has a tawny colour with little black and white spots.
4. Both male and female have both similar colours.
5. Female barn owls are most likely to be larger than males.
6. Female owls also have more spots on their back than males.
Interesting Facts:
1. The barn owls are really quiet when flying around.
2. Barn owls are probably the most owls that are more spread out around the world than other owls.

This is the mask that inspired me on hopefully making a barn owl mask.

The next step to our bird research was to act like a bird. We need to work on our body shape and how we can act like a bird. We had to stick out our nose as if it was our beak. Then we had to bend down and stick out our arms. I don't actually know if that is how a bird acts but it is quite similar.

Activities in Drama

Good day everyone.

The past few weeks the year 7/8 's we have been doing a lot of activities in Drama. I am also one of those people. 

We were mostly doing games or activities that would help us in drama. One of the games were 16/16 circle where we had to go in a circle and take 16 steps to the right or to the left. The purpose of this activity is to time when to walk so we don't bump into each other.

We also played a game called walk and jump when the instructor says walk we have to walk or when they say jump we jump. This activity gives us the skill to move as a group and when to walk.

Another game we played was Fiesta. You had get in a circle and either go left and right by saying a certain word. This teaches us how to be aware of the person talking and be aware f what is happening around the circle. 

Copy circle was also one of the games we played. It is where someone in he circle becomes the leader and we had to copy what they were doing. This activity teaches us how to move as a group and be aware of what the leader is doing.

All these games were basics of learning skills from Drama. These were Drama games that would help us during Drama Class.
