Reading Plus📚➕

Hello everyone.

One again our class has improved more on our reading plus. I have been currently doing more combos as always. Though i found reading interesting book in reading plus hard. I couldn't satisfy myself with the books left to read. Though i still finished 2 combos despite the fact that I read stories that were boring to me.

Here is my report:

Edible Slime🤓

 Hello everyone.

Today in science, chemistry we are trying to make an edible slime. It's a treat because our class's science teacher has not been in class recently last week.  Here is what we are doing.

Aim:

I want to find out how to make edible slime.

Method:

    Equipment
  • Marshmallows
  • Spatula (Something to mix with)
  • Bowl/cup
  • Icing Sugar
  • Microwave
  • Vegetable Oil (optional)
Instructions
  1. Get all equipment
  2. Put marshmallows in cup/bowl and put in microwave for 10 seconds or more if not melted enough.
  3. Mix well with a spatula
  4. Add icing sugar
  5. The texture is good enough if it becomes difficult to mix with a spatula anymore.
  6. Wash hand and let the slime cool if you decide to play with the slime.
  7. Mix with hands after using the spatula, if too sticky add more icing sugar.
  8. IF you want add vegetable oil if the texture is too hard.
  9. Enjoy
What it felt?
The slime was very sticky at first but after adding a lot of icing sugar it was functional enough to play with. Though it was hard to stretch.
What it smelt?
It smelt more like vegetable oil because of how much I added into the slime.
It didn't stretch that much after i added a lot of icing sugar because of how sticky it was.

Skittle Colours 🍬🌈

Hello everyone this week in science, chemistry we have been experimenting with sweets. Here is what experiment we are trying to do.

 Aim:

I want to find out what happens when put skittle in water.

Method:

    Equipment
  • Petri Dish
  • Skittles
  • Warm water
  • Beaker
Instructions
  1. Get all required equipment
  2. spread out your skittles around the edge
  3. Gently, pour the warm water into the center of the petri dish.
  4. Observe the next results of what happens.
Results:

Discussion:
Why did the colours leave the skittles?
The hard sugar coat around the skittles dissolves faster when on warm water.
The colouring in the sugar drags around the hot water and makes the colorful mixture.

Why did the colours not mix?
Each skittle has different kind of flavours which is  density meaning that one colour can't mix because of their differences of how much density it has so some colours are in different levels of the water.

Always welcome to comment.
Have you ever done an experiment like this?

Reading Plus Progress 📚➕

 Hello everyone.

This week we have also been working on our reading plus. My reading rate has expanded and i have come to better understanding of each story. I have yet one more combo to finish. A combo is where you read to book after another and both are above 80%. The book i have been reading lately are fantasy and mystery book. The current book i have read is 'the giant builder'. Its about a builder who worked hard but got tricked by the gods.

Here is my report:

Reading Plus Vocab📚➕

 Hello everyone.

Today our class worked on you reading plus again to improve on our reading. I have been getting better at reading smoothly and picturing the actions in my head. I moved on from the reading tobic and to vocabulary. It is my first time doing the vocab work and I actually did pretty good. Some words i was confused on for example: Benefit, application, formation. I know what they mean but it's hard to define them.

This is my report.

Thank you for reading this blog post.
Do you know those words mentioned.

Anti-Bullying Activities

 Hello everyone.

Last week in outstanding we have been talking anti-bullying. We also got activities to learn more about it. first we watched some clips that can start bullying. For example someone being mean to the victim or the victim getting name-called.

The start of the activities we first had to read a book necessarily something about bullying. We already had our reading group decided so each group had their own to  book to read.
I read a book called benny. It about 2 guys who are bestfriends and their friendship starting to collapse.

One of the activities was make a title page for the book we have read. Link to read Benny.
Here is the results:
Thank you for reading this blog post.
If you were benny's friend what would you do about your friendship?

Canterbury Floods Report

Good day everyone.

Last week in outstanding we have been talking about the recent canterbury floods. For this activity we were told to read a new report about the canterbury floods and from the info we have gathered we were to make a blog post about our report.

The rain that caused the flood started at sunday afternoon at christchurch though for others the start of the flood might have began at Monday. A major code-red warning has been sent out for places like ashburton, springfield, and many more. The acting minister for emergency management, Kris Faafoi came to canterbury to deal with the heavy rain. It was said that 3000 houses were at risk of flooding. Because of the major floods springfield about 30 houses were evacuated and with help from fire crew they were able to get help from communities and from their friends and family.

Homes that were near the river were advised to self-evacuate. Other school that were majorly impacted were tasked to close. There were about 52 schools closed due to the flood.

Thank you for reading this blog post.
Have you ever experienced a massive flood near you home?

Learning about Field hockey🏑

Hello everyone this week in pe we have been learning about hockey. We talked about the basic skills of hockey and safety rules. Hockey has two different types. Ice hockey and field hockey we are currently learning field hockey.

Hockey is basically a sport that involves having a stick and a ball. Hockey has a special kind of stick it's not a stick that you pluck from a tree. It has a curved side and a flat side. Some of the basic rules includes, hitting the ball with the flat side and pushing the ball not hitting. Your hockey should also not go over your shoulders, it is not golf and you shouldn't swing the hockey stick.

Some of the skill that I learnt while learning hockey is, passing, dribbling and goaling. A simple rule for the defenders is there are not allowed to pass a specific line. A while ago I also learnt some of the positions for hockey. There is middle attack, left wing, right wing, left defence, right defence and goalie.

Here is an example:

Have you ever play field hockey before?

Cyberbullying Poster

 Hello everyone.

Last week for outstanding we have been talking about how we can be an outstander. While on the topic of being an outstander we talked about cyberbullying and how it is different to the traditional way of bullying. Normally when someone say bullying, the first thing that you think of is physical bullying. Though cyberbullying is different because this is a type of bullying that happens online. While talking about the differences of the two types of bullying we also got into the consequences that might resolve cyberbullying.
For example, you can be fined up to $50,000 as an individual although for companies its usually up to $200,000. After we have learnt a lot about cyberbullying we were tasked to create a DLO about cyberbullying.
Here is my Poster/DLO:

Thank you for reading this blog post.
What would you do if you see an act of bullying/cyberbullying?
